10 Things Teachers Can Do During Summer Break
Read a book purely for enjoyment.
From the most recent books I have read, I would suggest these three. The first is Hidden Pictures by Jason Rekulak. The second would be by one of my favorite authors, Freida McFadden’s Dear Debbie, and the third would be That’s Not My Name by Megan Lally. Let me know if you like any of these.
Organize photos from the past year.
I have a goal of organizing my photos and sending a lot of them out to be printed. This is always on my mind, but it never gets done.
Deep clean one space that’s been bothering you.
My laundry room has some storage bins that really need to be cleaned out and reorganized. Try to find a space that you walk by often that just needs a reset.
Learn a new skill or hobby.
I always want to learn how to crochet, but I struggle to start the process. Several people have suggested starting with The Woobles Kit. I might have to give it a try in the next few months.
Refresh your wardrobe before fall.
Locally, we have a new consignment shop that I will definitely be going to for a fall refresh. Check out a local shop or head to an outlet mall to get the fall wardrobe essentials. Not that I want the cooler weather yet, but I do love fall clothes.
Take a day trip you’ve been talking about for months.
This day trip may be to a local shopping center, zoo, or park that is not too far away. My kids love Idlewild, so that will be on the list.
Create a healthier morning routine.
With all the hype on protein, I’d like to make a better effort to eat a more satisfying breakfast. Hopefully, this habit continues into the fall, too.
Finish a home project that’s been sitting on your list.
I must finish repainting two bedrooms and the hallway. It has been on the list for quite some time!
Reconnect with a friend over lunch or coffee.
Try to schedule a few coffee dates while you can. If you have kids, try to drop them off at their camps and head out with a friend.
Set one personal goal unrelated to teaching.
Try something new, set a goal, and stick to it.

No Need to Get Them All Done
Now that you have your list, check off a few items before the end of the summer.
Enjoy these days because you deserve every moment!
