This easy July home checklist is a simple way to prepare your home for the upcoming months. July has a way of slowing things down just enough for us to notice the little things, like the overflowing junk drawer, or the pile of photos that is still sitting on our phones, that we have been meaning to print or send off for a cute project or two. The patio could use a little attention or a good scrub. This post is all about an easy July home checklist.

This list is not about a home renovation or remodel. It is just a list of items that are easy enough to take on without being overwhelmed. It is more of a mid-year reset.
Good luck with your checklist, and any items that are in progress!

July Home Checklist
Refresh Your Entryway
Put away winter items that are in bins or drawers. I just found snowshoes in my kids’ bins. Hopefully, it doesn’t start snowing in July! Try to donate unused items, and create a welcoming space for guests and summer events.
Deep Clean One Outdoor Space
Choose just one: the front porch, patio, deck, or backyard seating area.
Wash Windows
A simple project that instantly makes your home feel brighter. This is my most dreaded chore, but once it is done, it is so satisfying.
Create a Summer Reading Spot
Shop for a comfy chair at a consignment shop or try this one, a small table, and a basket for books that can transform an unused corner. Add a lamp, and you have a spot!
Declutter the Kitchen
Pick one cabinet or drawer and clear out items you haven’t used in a year. Donate them or gift them to someone in need.
Organize Family Photos
Spend an hour creating albums, backing up files, or printing a few favorite memories.
Check Safety Essentials
Replace smoke detector batteries, test alarms, and review emergency supplies. Check your medicines for expiration dates too.
Tackle One Forgotten Space
Think linen closet, pantry shelf, laundry room storage areas, or a bathroom drawer.
Bring Summer Indoors
Fresh flowers, a bowl of lemons, or greenery from your yard can instantly brighten a room.
Prepare for Fall Before It Arrives
Create a list of school supplies, schedule appointments, or start a family calendar for the upcoming school year.

The July Home Challenge
Now that you have the checklist, don’t try to get them all done. Try to pick your top three.
Hopefully, by the end of the month, your home will be calmer in preparation for the busier months ahead.
