These time saving tips for moms will help you manage your ever-growing list easily and give you more time to enjoy the moments with your kids. From trial and error and constant revisions, I’ve learned from mistakes and taken so much advice from others on how to manage the chaos of motherhood that is constantly changing as my children grow. When potty training seemed impossible, I turned to whoever could lend me some advice. I’m always open to suggestions, and these are all tips that have helped me get to a place where I can enjoy the precious moments with my two sweeties. This post is all about time saving tips for moms.
Before I had children, I never realized what went into motherhood. Of course, I witnessed my mother raise three girls, but it never dawned on me that she was probably exhausted and anxious the entire time. She just went with it. She never lost her cool, and somehow she managed to always prepare our clothes, make meals, and manage her business.
Little did I know that she was always stressed about something. One of us was always forgetting something in her locker, asking her to make pizzelles less than 24 hours prior to the bake sale, going to the pediatrician’s office, staining a shirt, and so so much more.
With a to-do list miles long, motherhood sometimes seems like a constant time check and run around. Not to say that these tips are going to allow you to do a spa treatment every night, but they will hopefully save you some time and energy. Fingers crossed, I hope that they work for you as much as they work for me.
Not to worry though, these tips aren’t always going to be my go-tos. I realize that the stages will change and so will the tips. Don’t be too hard on yourself when the stages change and you are still trying to make the old routine work. We’ve all been there. Motherhood is tough, but at the end of the day, the snuggles and the smushies are what it’s all about.

Time Saving Tips for Moms
Prepare Snacks In Advance
This tip is at the top of my list because my kids are constantly snacking. If I am headed out the door, I try to make sure to have snack bags and containers with snacks ready to go prior to leaving the house. I have snacks in my car, the diaper bag, my purse, the pool bag, the pantry, and I am constantly stocking up at Costco.
Nothing is worse than a meltdown over Pirate’s Booty in the middle of a doctor’s office or on the way home from daycare. Some may call this snacking unhealthy, but I’ve just learned to roll with it. As long as every other snack offers some health benefits, it’s a win-win.
Fill Water Bottles
Not only are snacks important, but so are the water bottles. To eliminate fighting over who wants which water bottle, I just stocked up on the same exact mermaid water bottles from Kohl’s. When I, fortunately, got a 30% off, I bought them in bulk.
So not only do I have a ton of water bottles for the girls, but I make sure to fill two at a time per kid. There is always some part of the day where the water bottle ends up falling on the lid or gets covered in peanut butter. With these little mishaps, having the second water bottle on hand gives you a chance to grab the water and go.

Pack Lunches in Bentgo Boxes
So I always thought that spending money on a lunchbox was a waste. Then, I splurged one day and purchased a Bentgo box, and that was that. These little lunch boxes, make lunches look more appetizing to little kids, and it helps guide you to create the perfect servings of a hodgepodge of different foods. From filling the little containers with hummus or yogurt to giving your kiddos a treat in chocolate chips or gummies, these little lunch box organizers are amazing!
Plan Weekly Meals
Along with snack planning, water bottle filling, and lunch box organization, try to plan your meals out before the week starts.
For us, every Monday is some type of sandwich, Tuesdays are for tacos, Wednesdays are a protein, rice, and veggies, Thursdays, are leftovers, Fridays are normally for pizza, Saturday is a mix of crockpot meals or sometimes Chick Fil A, and Sundays are for pasta or chili dishes.
With food always on the mind, this schedule makes planning out our meals a little easier. Not to say that this is a set schedule and that we never vary, but it does eliminate the guessing game for dinner plans.

Empty the Dishwasher Before the Day Begins
Along with food comes dishes, every single night I run the dishwasher, and then before work, I unload it. It just seems to be routine, and I can’t imagine coming home from work and emptying the dishwasher just to load it with lunch box items and water bottles. At least with this approach, it seems like I am not just standing over the sink for hours.
Prepare Clothes for the Week
In addition to planning out meals, you can plan out your kids clothing as well. I have one large hook to hang all five outfits out according to days of the day week.
To start this planning process, I check the weather and then hang clothes that might work for those days.
Time Saving Tips for Moms
Wake Up Earlier Than They Do
This tip is always easier said, but it really does help lessen the chaos in the mornings. I try to wake up at least a half-hour before the kiddos, so that I can put makeup on while drinking coffee. If this doesn’t work out, then the kids are trying to put makeup on too, and somehow something ends up breaking. The other day my blush shattered into a million pieces. Nonetheless, waking up before the kids is sometimes impossible, but it does give you some YOU time.
Always Have Wipes Around
Along with the concept of saving time, always have wipes around. Nonetheless, this tip is not going to work if your kids are out of diapers or if they don’t make a mess every single time they eat.
Personally, I have wipes in the car, the diaper bag, my purse, the kitchen drawer, the bathroom, and the changing table. If a wipe is just a reach away, messes don’t seem so messy.
Invest in a Travel Potty
Be sure to have a travel potty if you are going anywhere. I have had to pull over after being in the car for just ten minutes. This little travel potty and liners are super convenient.
Time Saving Tips for Moms
Roll Clothes in Complete Outfits
For everyday convenience, I just roll clothes in complete outfits. From rolling the tops and bottoms of pajamas to rolling a tunic and matching leggings, this organizing idea has saved me so much time. Plus, I can send my older daughter upstairs to grab a quick outfit at all times.
Keep a Stain Remover in Bathroom Closet
Speaking of clothes, motherhood is so much about stain remover too. To avoid forgetting about all of those stains, as soon as the clothes go off, the stain spray comes out. This has saved so many shirts from being ruined and it lessens the steps to the laundry routine as well.
Check out this post about a great stain remover for kids clothes.

Reuse Towels
Be sure to have a drying rack for towels each night. If possible, I do try to get three uses out of each towel. This way I don’t have too many towels at one time, so in some ways, this is a more budget-friendly tip.
Put All Meds in Bathroom
Also, if your kids are on medications or just need a dose of Tylenol, place them in a cool dry place in the bathroom. This way, you can access their toothbrush and toothpaste easily after receiving the medication. Hopefully, this tip made the dentists in the family happy. 🙂

Purchase All Necessities on Subscription
For so many reasons, I love Amazon, but you can’t beat the convenience of the subscription service. With additional savings on multiple subscribe and save items, this program is so simple.
Each month I order the following subscriptions: diapers, diaper cream, baby wipes, antibacterial wipes, laundry detergent, dishwasher pods, and coffee cups.
With these subscriptions, I don’t have to worry about ever running out of these basic necessities, which is a great feeling. It definitely eases my stress in that category.
Write All Events on a Calendar
Having a calendar, will help you jot down notes, organize the logistics of events, and set reminders for birthdays and more.
Without the calendar out next to our pantry, I think I would be completely lost. As tasks build, I always turn to the calendar to see where they fit in and how everything will get done.
Time Saving Tips for Moms
Put All Bills on Automatic Bill Pay
With so many plates spinning in the air, put your bills on automatic bill pay, and eliminate the task completely. Of course, do be sure to check your statements to see that all bills were valid and correctly calculated.
Teach Kids to Toss Bowls in Sink and Garbage in Trash
As your kids grow, you can start incorporating them into being self-independent. My girls are great at putting their bowls in the sink and tossing out their wrappers. This is wonderful as I no longer find bowls in toy bins and fruit snack wrappers jammed into the couch.
Time Saving Tips for Moms
Have A Shoe Drop Zone
One way to eliminate having to mop and sweep as frequently is to create a shoe drop zone in your home. For us, my kids very rarely leave the entryway carpet without taking off their shoes. After so many reminders, they finally know to take their shoes off at the door. It’s great, and it’s saved me so much time cleaning up muddy floors and leaves dragged in as well.
Put Down an Arts and Crafts Table Cloth
For another tip, be sure to put down an arts and crafts table cloth during crafting activities. Our tablecloth is far from formal and it is completely stained in all different shades. This will save you time and money in the long run. Your kids won’t damage your furniture, and you won’t be worried about the mess during the process.
Donate Toys Regularly – A Toy In – A Toy Out
One last tip, try to donate a toy every time a new one comes into your home. This helps get some control over the constantly growing toy pile. Plus, I try to explain to my kids that they had their time to enjoy these items. I stress that now it is someone else’s turn to enjoy them too. So far, the girls are rolling with it, so I try to stick to it.
