With a love of chocolate candy coating and potato chips, I thought about how wonderful a mixture of the two would be. This sweet and salty combo snack is quite delicious and something to put out for get-togethers or bring to work and school events.
I love anything sweet and salty like chocolate-covered pretzels. With that said, I added pretzels to this snack mix too. It is super delicious, and you may go back for more than just a handful.

Sweet and Salty Party Mix
For this recipe, you’ll need a large bowl with a lid. I just recently purchased this one from Target. It works great and is dishwasher safe too.
Step 1: The Pretzels
Add two cups of pretzels. You can use any brand you prefer for this ingredient.
Step 2: The Chex Cereal
Then, add two cups of Chex cereal. I used the Aldi brand for this ingredient as it is half the price.
Step 3: The Potato Chips
Then, add in two cups of ruffles or any wavy potato chips.
Step 4: The M&Ms
Next, add in two cups of M&Ms. You can use any type of M&M. For this recipe, I just used the plain ones. Peanut butter M&Ms would be great too.
Step 5: The Candy Coating
Then, melt the vanilla candy coating and cover all the ingredients with it. I used this Good and Gather Vanilla Candy Coating, and it is so good. If you don’t use the entire container of candy coating, you could dip other things into it. For instance, dip strawberries and graham crackers for more tasty treats. Also, Oreos are always even better with candy coating.
Step 6: Shake It Up
Then, put the lid on the container, and shake it up. Be sure to shake it up before you add in the powdered sugar or else it won’t be as even.
Step 7: The Powdered Sugar & Shake
Finally, add in a cup of powdered sugar and shake it all up once more.
Step 8: Refrigerate
Then, cover a cookie sheet in parchment paper and spread out the snack mix. Refrigerate it for about an hour.
Step 9: Break It Up & Enjoy
Then, break it up as you would homemade bark. You can put it back in the mixing bowl or into smaller containers for a quick treat for guests. For a birthday party, you could put it in treat bags for favors as well.

All the ingredients will work well no matter which brands you purchase. I love the Good and Gather vanilla coating, but white baking chips will work as well.
