Summer Pasta Recipe
Jump to RecipeStep 1: Boil the Pasta
First start the cooking process by boiling a pound of angel hair pasta. I love the Barilla Angel Hair noodles. It makes for a lighter pasta dish.
Step 2: Cook the Sausage
Then, add two tablespoons of olive oil to a pan with a teaspoon of garlic.
Then, add five pieces of Italian sausage. You can use mild or spicy sausage. I always use mild or sweet because my kids will not eat anything too spicy.
Once you’ve added the sausage to the pan over medium heat, cover in a cup of water. I like adding the water so the sausage does not dry out during cooking.
Once cooked, slice and dice up the sausage so that it can be evenly distributed in the pasta dish.
Step 3: Add the Tomatoes
Then, add two cans of whole tomatoes. The whole tomatoes really lighten the sauce and add so much flavor. Of course, if you have a garden of tomatoes, be sure to use the fresh tomatoes instead of the canned ones.
Step 4: Add the Seasoning
Then, add the seasoning. Be sure to add a tablespoon of basil or even fresh basil will work too. There is nothing better than fresh basil from the garden during those summer months.
Also, add a teaspoon of onion powder, a teaspoon of Italian seasoning, and a quarter teaspoon of salt.
Make sure to let the sauce come to a boil as you mix it occasionally.
Step 5: Add the Noodles
Then, add the noodles to the pan, and toss everything around evenly.
