If you are someone who holds onto the sentimental, these easy steps will give you a new way to display these items.
I am someone who tries to not form an emotional attachment to items and personal belongings. Yes, this is not always easy, and believe me, there have been regrets in my moments of discarding this and that.
However, I do try to make the most of the items that should have probably been donated or recycled.

Sweet Salvaged Items
For this project, I took a circa 1976 piece of pottery from my dad, and just thought, how could this be useful? PAINT!
Painting Details
The total project took two days and approximately 20 minutes each night.
The first night I gently cleaned the pottery piece with a little Dawn and then put my first coat of paint on with this medium-sized brush.
For other Dawn cleaning tips, check out this post.
By the way, the pack of brushes has really come in handy for several projects, and they are less than $7.
I had already used the Annie Sloan paint shade, Antoinette, on other pieces in my daughter’s room, so it easily fits the room theme.
It is a subtle pink that honestly could be used on many different pieces.
This site will allow you to place an order online for Annie Sloan’s paint. There are several gorgeous shades to choose from.
Annie Sloan’s paint is an expensive choice; however, this same paint looks and goes on just as nicely as it did three years ago. It keeps well and you really do not need very much of it to cover your items.
A Few More Saves
Here are a few other examples of items that my parents held onto so that I could use them once I had kids. I am so glad that I decided to keep these pieces.

Sometimes You Just Can’t Let Go
At times, you may want to keep pieces and hoard them in drawers or closets, but the problem is that these few items turn into bags of items that will never be used or seen by anyone.
If you can’t enjoy them now or revamp those items, then kindly donate them. You will feel better about it, and you will have items that truly mean something to you and your family.
It is now your turn to go through your sentimental items and select the ones that really mean the most to you.
Try to find a way to put them out on display. If you can’t find a way to make that possible, see your local donation center.
Please share your sentimental selections in the comments.
