Running gear for beginners is so important to ensure that you enjoy the experience and prevent injury at the same time. With so many different shoes and items out there for running, it is easy to be overwhelmed when selecting what works and doesn’t. These few items have really worked out well for me, and I have enjoyed the running experience so much. This post is all about running gear for beginners.
There is something about heading out the door to run that is energizing. Even though sometimes I don’t feel like getting off of the couch, I have never regretted going for a run once I’m a few minutes into it. Of course, there are days when I am much slower than others, but once the run is over, I feel so much better.
Some may say my pace is on the slow side, but I have to say I run for the escape from my chore list and the chaos of the day. It is my time to get away and do something for myself. As a mom, there is always that feeling of guilt at times when you leave your kids. I feel that all the time, but after reading a lot about running and why it is a great excesize, I’ve realized that honestly, I run for my kids. I want to make sure that I stay healthy, so that I can keep up with them. They have so much energy it is crazy, and running to me, makes me feel a little bit healthier.
Now that’s not to say, I eat the most healthy foods at times because I love to cook and to bake. I believe in a daily treat, but with running, it makes me think and feel like I am at least trying to have a healthy life. With that, I wanted to make sure that I had the right gear to really enjoy the experience.
These items have really worked well for me so far, and I am confident that you’ll feel the same.

Brooks Ghost 14 Running Shoes
When my feet started hurting from training, I thought I better get to my local running store, and get a new pair of shoes. After an incredible experience at Fleet Feet, I would recommend it to everyone. They take a scan of your feet to enure that you are purchasing the most comfortable shoes. Everyone who works there is so helpful and kind. So even though I do highly recommend these Brooks, you should go and check out the store and get fitted to make sure you love your shoes. You deserve a pair of shoes that make you feel good and keep you injury free.
High-Waisted PowerPress 7/8 Length Leggings
So I love these leggings, and yes, they are less than $30. They are amazing. Old Navy defintely created a great budget friendly pair of leggings that are so comfortable. They stay up and dry fast too. Old Navy makes these in several different colors, and they have deals on them all the time. I think I got a pair around the holidays for just fifteen dollars. You can’t beat it!

Running Sport Socks With Cushioned Sole
These cushioned socks are perfect for going the distance. They really do make a difference, and this is a great deal on Amazon too.
I also like that they have a higher back so that your entire foot is covered and cushioned.
Spibelt
I have had my Spibelt for a very long time, and I love it. I can put pretty much everything I need in the case. Plus, it washes well, and it expands. You may even catch yourself wearing it when you’re not running too.

Goodr Mach Gs Sunglasses
Not one for aviators, but these Amelia Earhart Ghosted Me sunglasses are awesome! The fit is great and they are super comfortable. After asking a few people if they like their Goodr glasses, I had to try them out. They stay on my face even when sweating it out, and they are polarized. Plus, they are quite the steal.
Powerbeats Pro True Wireless Bluetooth Earphones
I love these headphones. This was a complete splurge. After asking several people which headphones they like, I went with these, and I couldn’t be happier. Plus, I have a huge head and rather large ears, so these actually stay in my ears. I was very impressed that they work and stay put. I love that I can listen to music or a great audiobook while answering a quick phone call or replying to a text without having to interrupt my run.

Apple Watch SE with GPS & Celluar
I finally joined the Apple Watch club, and it has made my life a lot easier. With the celluar capability, I am good to go out the door without my phone, and at the same, I can track my runs too. It really isn’t the most necessary item, but it does make quite the difference.
Addaday Type A+ Ultra Roller
To rest, relax, and recover after a longer run, this roller works well. There are different types depending on your ideal massage type. This one worked best for me.
I am guilty of not doing this as often as I should, but it does make your body recover so much better after a run.
One Step At A Time
Now that you have these items, enjoy your next run even more.
