How To Get Rid of Cooked Fish Smell in House
First, be sure to remove all packaging that the seafood was in prior to doing any of the smell removal steps. Also, be sure to put all dishes in the dishwasher and run it as well.
To be sure that there isn’t a fishy smell in your home for days, put a bowl of white vinegar out on the counter after dinner. The vinegar will naturally remove the fishy stench from the room.
Depending on the power of the fish and the amount of fish you cooked, you may want to boil a little bit of cinnamon water in the morning. Just add a few tablespoons of cinnamon to a pot of water and boil it. Let it stand for a while, and that should remove all the leftover fishy odors from your home.
I always grab this Good & Gather container of cinnamon as it is cheaper than most brands.
To be honest, the white vinegar normally removes all the seafood smells from my home. I rarely have to boil the water with cinnamon.
Of course, I am normally just making shrimp pasta or baking fish in the oven. If you are baking a lot of seafood and using both the stovetop and the oven, then the cinnamon water is a must.
