For this particular process, I decided I wanted to really try this cleaning method on an older home with older tiles to ensure that it actually worked. Fortunately, my sister is renting an older home from the 1800s. The place is absolutely stunning with gorgeous crown molding, original hardwood floors, and beautiful bathroom tiles.
Moreover, I knew that if these scrubbing steps could produce results on her bathroom tiles, then they would surely work in other bathrooms too.

Simple 3 Step Process
First Step: Break Out the Soft Scrub
Yes, this method uses Soft Scrub, the cleaning wonder from 1974. According to Soft Scrub’s homepage, “Soft Scrub Mold & Mildew Stain Remover Spray is specially formulated to kill harmful mold without harming grout, caulk, tile, and glass.” Additionally, this product was designed to be effective yet gentle on surfaces. So I figured why not really put it to the test on these older stained tiles.
With practically instant results, start by applying the cleaner to the tiles. Then, using a scrub brush like the one below, start the cleaning process. Additionally, be sure to scrub with a little pressure to ensure that you are taking off the dirt and grime.
Then, with a toothbrush scrub in between the tiles and deep into the grout as well. Furthermore, the toothbrush really does work well as it is a perfect fit.
Second Step: DIY Shower Cleaner Rinse Aid
So to really take the tiles to the next level, you can create this easy DIY shower cleaner rinse aid.
Of course, you could just stop after step one and rinse your tiles off with water too. In fact, you will still see results in your before and after photos.
Furthermore, to make the cleaning solution, simply use equal parts water and vinegar and add a splash of lemon juice. Tada, a cleaning cocktail!
Then, using the mixture, rinse off all of your tiles.
Nonetheless, this cleaner can be used in a a spray bottle too. In fact, you could spritz and then wipe off the tiles.
Third Step: Wipe Off The Tiles
Lastly, wipe down the tiles with an old rag to really see the sparkle and the impressive results.
