Finding eczema remedies for kids that work can be really difficult. From trial and error, we have found that these various treatments for eczema drastically improve the symptoms. Of course, I am by no means a doctor; however, I have had first-hand experience with kids who suffer from skin conditions. Be it that your kids may be allergic to various foods or environmental issues, these remedies have in fact improved skin conditions. This post is all about eczema remedies for kids.
Trying to find solutions to skin sensitivities in children can be a very overwhelming process. I know that I really struggled to find solutions for Sadie’s issues with eczema.
For instance, I would search the web and purchase any possible product that was said to change the condition of her skin for the better. With all of these failed attempts, I finally found go-to products that really work well and have kept her skin issues under control.
If you are like me and can’t stand to see your kids constantly scratching at their skin or that they just don’t seem comfortable, then try these remedies out to see if they too make a difference for your kids.

Eczema Remedies for Kids
Soaps and Body Wash – Eczema Remedies for Kids
With any of these soaps, the key is to make sure to thoroughly rinse the soap off with clean water. For instance, most kids can just get a bath and pop right out; however, I just wash off my two kids with clean water before they get out of the tub.
Vanicream Cleansing Bar
Prior to using this bar soap, I tried quite a few different sensitive skin options. Nonetheless, this particular bar worked extremely well for Sadie’s skin. Even at a young age of six months, this bar worked wonders and alleviated the major problem areas like behind her knees and her elbows.
Also, I used this bar soap in her hair as well, and it helped with her scalp issues as well.
Vanicream Free & Clear Hair Shampoo
Fortunately, Vanicream carries hair products such as the shampoo and conditioner as the little bar soap wasn’t going to cut it once Sadie’s hair grew like Rapunzel’s. This same line also has a hairspray too. Actually, I only know that because Sadie was a flower girl and she needed it. Fortunately, this Vanicream hairspray worked well, and she could easily use this too without any issues.
Vanicream Free & Clear Hair Conditioner
Again, this isn’t necessary if your child doesn’t have long hair, but this is our go-to option since Sadie does. It works just the same as the shampoo and definitely helps with the knots without any skin reactions.
Babyganics Baby Shampoo + Body Wash
Fortunately, we were able to come across this baby shampoo and body wash option as well. It is always tough to travel anywhere when you can’t easily find Vanicream products. Nonetheless, it is great to have a second option to use for a quick bath if we are out of town.
Creams and Lotions – Eczema Remedies for Kids
CeraVe Moisturizing Cream
Directly after the bath, I don’t completely dry them off before I apply this cream. It seems to work better and to keep their skin moisturized. In fact, this seems to work really well in the winter during the most drying months of the year.
CeraVe Unscented Daily Moisturizing Lotion
Additionally, I keep this lighter lotion near the sink, so that after washing hands, they can easily put this on as well. Plus, it is a go-to because the cream from CeraVe doesn’t cause any type of skin issues.
Sunscreen – Eczema Remedies for Kids
Heading into the warmer weather, it can be tough to find an option that really protects and doesn’t cause any issues at the same time. From trial and error, these are the only two sunscreens that haven’t caused one breakout or skin reaction. I love both products, but the Babyganics spray is the most convenient option thus far.
Babyganics Sunscreen Spray 50 SPF
Again, this spray option is ideal, but the tube of lotion also works well.
Baby Sunscreen Natural Sunblock by Thinkbaby
Furthermore, this brand is a great sunscreen option for adults too. To be honest, I have used this on my face too. Why not take advantage of the same great skincare as your kids?
Laundry Detergent – Eczema Remedies for Kids
All Liquid Laundry Detergent
For all things that go into our washing machine, this is the only laundry detergent we use. If I get anything new for the girls, I make sure to wash it using this detergent first.
If Sadie has a skin reaction when we aren’t home, it is most likely due to laying on a comforter or blanket that isn’t washed in All.
Furthermore, I know that there other brands out there, but I am too afraid to try anything else since this works so well.
Clear Skin Ahead
With the use of these products, I hope that you find the same success.
Moreover, I know how hard it can be to search for products to alleviate your kids’ skin issues, and I wanted to at least let you know what may work for your kids too.
Additionally, for ways to organize all of these products, check out this post.
