Table of Contents
Step 1: Gather Your Materials
You will need air dry clay, a rolling pin, a butterknife, cookie cutters, twine or yarn, a straw, scissors, and paint (optional).
Also, my daughter and I used an old plastic tablecloth. It is especially useful if you decide to paint the ornaments.
Step 2: Roll It Out
First, using a rolling pin, prep the clay by making it thinner and evening it out.
Step 3: Make Your Ornaments
Then, using the cookie cutters, make your ornaments.
I used these beautiful cookie stamps I bought a few years ago from Target. They made for beautiful decor!
Once you use the cookie cutter, you may need a butterknife to clean up the sides of the ornament.
Also, you can use a little water to smooth the edges too.
Step 4: Make a Place for Twine & Dry
Then, using a straw, put a hole in the tops of the ornaments for twine.
You can leave the ornaments to dry overnight. Depending on the thickness of the ornaments, you may need to wait 24-72 hours for them to dry completely.
Step 5: Paint (Optional) and Twine
Finish the ornament for your last step using ribbon, yarn, or twine.
