These cardigans that go with everything are cozy and stylish. Enjoy pairing them with anything you like in your closet. There’s nothing better than shopping your closet, and with just a new cardigan or two, you’ll be set this season. From varying colors to different textures, you can switch it up. This post is all about cardigans that go with everything.
As someone who comes from a family where cardigans are involved with every single outfit choice, I am always looking for a more stylish option.
As a little girl, I remember standing in the hallway waiting for my grandmother to get ready, and she would always scream down to my granddaddy asking if her cardigan was in the car? I mean it could be 90 degrees out, but the woman has never left the house without a cardigan. There were always cardigans piling up in the back of her car, and she still always carries one around with her to any event she attends.
My mother and aunt do the same as my gram. They always have a button-down sweater. I am telling you, I think they have one in every single color and texture known to man. They love cardigans, so I came by it honestly. I just love cardigans too.
Now my daughter has to wear cardigans to school, so there is always one hanging out of her bookbag each day. She doesn’t even realize that this is going to be an ongoing event throughout her life. 🙂
As my family is always searching for cardigans that go with everything, I thought I’d give everyone some options headed into the season this year.
Plus, who doesn’t just love shopping for some new essentials for their closet?

Cardigans That Go With Everything
Knox Rose Leopard Print in Camo
You can find this cardigan at Target. With shades of gray, green, and black, you can easily pair this long sweater with most solid colors in your closet. For those of you who aren’t sold on camo, this is subtle and gives you an updated look for a longer sweater option.
Cardigans That Go With Everything
Boyfriend Cardigan – A New Day in Mint Green
This mint green cardigan is from my favorite company at Target, A New Day. I just love the larger buttons on this sweater and the soft mint green shade. It is a warm fuzzy sweater that really works well with most colors. You could also pair this with a cords in the winter too.
Open-Front Cardigan – A New Day in Burgundy
This cardigan is a classic style and it has pockets, which is even better. Out of all the cardigans, I’d say that this is just the most traditional one. I love the large pockets, and the burgundy color could work with black or beige or even navy really. It is probably the most versatile of them all. I just love it!
Cardigans That Go With Everything
Lauren Conrad Lace-Trimmed Ruana
This Lauren Conrad cardigan from Kohl’s works well with a casual outfit or even as a light sweater over a dress. I just love anything Lauren Conrad comes out with at Kohl’s. Her clothes are beautifully made, and this cardigan can dress any outfit up. You could wear this with a cocktail dress as well.
It also is great in gray. With anything cream or gray, you can pretty much wear this with everything without clashing. Think about wearing this to work or as a light jacket for a dressier event.
Open Front Pointelle Cardigan in Muted Plum
I love the cardigan in this muted plum shade. It isn’t too much, but it isn’t just gray or beige either. It gives a little color to any outfit choice you make.
Who Wore the First Cardigan?
In my mind, it was my grandmother, but really it was James Thomas Brudenell.
According to The Atlantic, James Thomas Brudenell, the seventh Earl of Cardigan, wore the first one.
Its original purpose was to be a close-fitting knitted woolen jacket or waistcoat, which has obviously transformed into the common button-down sweater today.
Most people have owned a cardigan at some point in their life. Be it for your school uniform or that ugly Christmas sweater, you all have that cardigan you remember.
