Books to Read on Vacation
#1 Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine
Without a doubt, you will catch yourself laughing out loud with this particular choice. Oliphant’s wit is incredible even though it is not on par with her social grace.
Redefining being completely fine shows through her consistent choice of eating frozen pizzas alone. Perhaps, being alone will suffice, but is that really happiness?
Eleanor struggles to venture out in the world, which is something that may cause most people to relate to her at times. Furthermore, her approach to finding a new path is something that you will surely turn pages to follow. Charming and witty, Eleanor Oliphant will be a character you remember for years to come.
#2 The Cuckoo’s Calling
Writing under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith, J.K. Rowling created a rather intriguing private detective in Cormoran Strike. For those who love a great murder mystery, this is quite the pick and the first of the detective series.
Surely, with the complexity of the supposed crime, you will be interested in finding out who really is guilty or if anyone is actually to blame for the death of Lula Landry.
#3 Maybe You Should Talk To Someone
As we may all appear to be put together all of the time, Lori Gottlieb surely shows us that there is some type of anxiety or insecurity in all of us at some point in our lives. Maybe we are too afraid to admit we have worries or concerns, but Gottlieb shows that through her own story, it is quite alright to question and wonder.
With an unbelievable sense of humor, you will see Lori, a world-renowned therapist, questioning her own life decisions in the office of her therapist, Wendell.
Turning pages, you will see how it is okay to question love, mortality, guilt, hope, and even progression.
#4 The Paris Wife
For those who love American literature and have a special appreciation for Ernest Hemmingway, The Paris Wife is the pick for you. Be entertained with Hadley and Ernest in this easy page-turner.
Oh, how the last generation seemed to have it all as they ventured to live in Europe! With that dreamy and swanky lifestyle, you may assume that they lived quite the perfect lives. Nonetheless, you will quickly realize that life isn’t always as it seems.
Although Hemmingway valued and loved Hadley, her perspective reveals more than we may have ever known.
#5 The Dearly Beloved
As four people gather for all of the right reasons, you will be compelled to follow along with the details of both couples, Charles and Lily and James and Nan in The Dearly Beloved.
As these four struggle through common issues of love, friendship, and really all concerns about life, you will want and hope they find balance as you read each page.
Live through these particularly interesting characters, as they all have a story, they all have a past, and they all are trying to find the meaning of life.
