Benefits of a Clean Home
Benefit 1: A Calming Atmosphere
When you have a clean home, you are calmer and more at ease. From completing work assignments to making dinner, to grabbing a cup of coffee, you will not be overwhelmed by the dirt or the mess piling up around you. Instead, you will be able to go through these daily tasks each day without that factor. This can make life so much easier especially when your day doesn’t go just as planned.
I’d say this is probably the most important benefit. If you are not taking care of your mental health, then you can’t focus on anything else. By taking the time to declutter and clean, your mental health will be better and you’ll be able to enjoy life and to deal with the chaos of life at the same time.
Benefit 2: A Germ-Free Environment
With a cleaner home, you are more likely to live in a germ-free environment. Obviously, germs will always find a way like when your toddler sticks their shoes in their mouth. That is going to happen, but in general, a cleaner home makes for less bacteria and viruses to be around. Also, there are those who think that you shouldn’t stress about the germs as they build up your immune system, and I am not judging them for that at all. For me, I just feel better about it when I clean my floors with Pine-Sol and wipe down everything with disinfecting wipes.

Benefit 3: A Safe Space for People with Allergies & Asthma
To be honest, my kids are always sick with a cough or a runny nose. Both of the girls have asthma, and when my house is cleaner, I think that it decreases their chances of being super sick. Even though, I know that this probably isn’t the case, but it makes me feel better about the situation.
I try to dust often, and vacuum their room and under their beds frequently. It may not be a cure to their health issues, but it definitely helps provide a cleaner environment for breathing in less dust and dirt.
According to Kids Health, you should vacuum and dust (especially your bedroom) at least once a week. The dust is definitely something that you want to try to eliminate. It isn’t easy, but cutting out some of it is better than nothing.
Benefit 4: Save Money Maintaining Your Home
Having a cleaner home and taking care of the items in your home will save you money over time. If you clean out your fridge, clean your dishwasher filter, change your air filter, then these items should last longer if they are not neglected. You won’t have to pay for new items, and your appliances will last longer too.
Now, life happens and I get it, you can’t get to everything all the time. For an easier way to make sure these things get done, try to put your routine cleaning items on your calendar. I love Google Calendar, and I use that to write down everything. It helps keep track of those HVAC items and to maintain other household appliances too.
Benefit 5: More Likely to Have Guests
With a cleaner home, you are also more likely and willing to have guests. Instead of having to panic when they plan to visit, you will be at ease and more likely to enjoy the company.
Remember, guests are there to enjoy time with you, and they aren’t there to judge whether or not your house would pass a cleaning test.
Enjoying those you love to be around is huge, and this is definitely a benefit of cleaning.
A Clean Home is a Happy Home
Now that you know the benefits, you can rest assured that all your hard work is paying off.
