Apple Cinnamon Breakfast Casserole
Step 1: Preheat the Oven
Start by preheating the oven to 400°. Normally, I preheat the oven to 350, but since cinnamon rolls do well at 400, it is best to stick to the higher temperature.
Step 2: Spray Baking Pan
Then, spray the baking pan with cooking spray. Even though the pie filling may not stick to the bottom, I always spray the pan just in case.
By the way, if you are making this casserole dish to go, try out this carrier. After a sweet potato casserole disaster, I ended up purchasing a carrier for safe food traveling and less mess.
Step 3: Add Pie Filling
Then, add one can of apple pie filling. Of course, you could use any pie filling you have on hand, but I just love the combo of cinnamon and apples.
Step 4: Sprinkle Brown Sugar
Then, sprinkle brown sugar over the top of the apple pie filling. Yes, this does taste amazing and the brown sugar can be light or dark. I used dark because I had already had that one opened.

Step 5: Sprinkle Cinnamon
Then, sprinkle the entire baking pan with ground cinnamon. I love cinnamon, so if you don’t, you can skip this ingredient. If you do, you won’t do any harm in covering the pan.
Step 6: Top with Cinnamon Rolls
Next, using two cans of cinnamon rolls, top the entire casserole. The cinnamon rolls fit nicely over the pie filling.

Step 7: Spray the Butter
To be sure that these rolls stay soft, spray them with butter. If you don’t have spray butter, that’s fine. Just melt a half stick of butter and pour it over top of the rolls evenly. You can’t go wrong with adding butter to any recipe.
Step 8: Bake the Casserole
Then, bake the rolls for 13-15 minutes depending on your love for a softer cinnamon roll or one with a crusted finish.
Step 9: Icing Time
Right after taking them out of the oven, top them with the icing that comes with the cinnamon rolls. The icing will easily melt all over the rolls and into the entire casserole making it taste heavenly.
