Welcome to Start with the Bed and thank you for visiting my blog. I’m Juliet, and I hope that you are enjoying the experience while finding some helpful tips and a few new must-haves for your cupboards along the way.
As a constant cleaner, organizer, and shopper, I decided to put my everyday practices into words, pictures, and links. I have always been programmed to make my space clean, to sort my belongings, and to find new products to make my life more efficient or at least try to simplify my routine.
Some may think it funny to spend so much time doing these tasks, but for me, I feel more productive when I make these tiny strides. From there, I feel like I can be a better person – a better mom, sister, granddaughter, daughter, wife, and teacher.
Whatever role you fill each day, start with making the bed. Life can be extremely challenging at times, but no matter what happens each day, I make the bed. Just the final tuck, that last pillow positioned at the right angle – it feels so right, and then I can do whatever is next.
A Quick Q&A
- What is your family life like?
- Jarrod and I have been together for ten years! We’ve been married for seven. When you receive two copper hummingbirds for your garden as your seventh-anniversary gift, you genuinely feel excited.
- What is it like raising two little girls?
- In one word – eventful. Sadie and Tessa keep me on my toes at all times. I could kiss them both a million times a day, and when I’m in bed at night, I still look at the photos of them from the day.
- Why did you go into teaching?
- I was inspired by so many strong women in my life who were teachers. I wanted to be one of those women. I hope that I am living up to their standards each day I am with my students.
- Why blog?
- I have a passion for cleaning and organizing. This way, I can keep a list of what works, what doesn’t, and perhaps share a few of these processes with viewers who want a fresh idea.
- What is your favorite movie quote?
- It is extremely cheesy but I must admit I have used it in a speech to my younger sister as her maid of honor … “Life is not merely a series of meaningless accidents or coincidences, but rather, it’s a tapestry of events that culminate in an exquisite, sublime plan.” -Serendipity (Who doesn’t love John Cusack?!)
- What is your favorite author quote?
- Mostly anything from Jane Austen, but especially, “It isn’t what we say or think that defines us, but what we do.” -Jane Austen
- What is your favorite food?
- I love anything with caramel… caramel creams, caramel truffles, caramel fudge, salted caramel chocolates, caramel sauce over ice cream, are you with me?
