In six ways, you are going to easily conquer a clean couch. A couch that doesn’t have a stench or a stain and can actually be a retreat as much as it can be a zoom hub or a play fort.
Recently, our couches are getting more love than normal. They have become multipurpose pieces of furniture for everyone in the family.
We work from our couch, we watch from our couch, we build tents around our couch, we workout nearby our couch, and yes, we are eating around our couch more than ever.
With all of this traffic, it is important to figure out how to conquer and maintain a clean couch.
After all, couches are not cheap, but rest assured your couch will last through all of this use with these six methods.

Covers and Cushions
So for the bulk of your couch, utilize these four practices.
Your couch will no longer smell and give you that feeling of disgust while viewing your latest binge-worthy series.
Way 1: Select a Versatile Vacuum
Select a vacuum that can easily be used by anyone in your home. One that can be charged.
One that is easily accessible and one that has the power to clean up the goldfish, the m&ms, the cheerios, and the chip crumbs out of all of those hard to reach areas.
For this particular cleaning task, I depend on the oh so reliable BLACK+DECKER Lithium Handheld Vacuum with PowerBoost.
The PowerBoost setting is perfect for those really crumby issues. The boost sounds like it is going to take over the world and truly conquer!
Way 2: Roll It Out – (not just athletic advice)
You just took a shower, you go to sit down and relax in your comfy fresh leggings, you then proceed to get up to grab a snack and realize that your pants are covered in fuzz.
This is when you know that you need to roll it out. Roll out your couch with a lint roller that is.
This handy hack is a quick fix for blanket fuzzies floating around, pet hair, and all other disgusting nuisances along the way.
Way 3: Treasures: Dawn & a Microfiber Cloth
For most couch fabrics, use a wet microfiber cloth and a nickel-sized amount of Dawn to remove stains.
As someone who is constantly removing salsa and nacho cheese from my couch cushions, these two treasures have been extremely reliable.
The Dawn Antibacterial Apple smells amazing and you might as well kill some germs while scrubbing away the stain.
Even stains that have been there for who knows how long have disappeared. I do not know whether it is the cloth or the soap, but the combo is perfect for removing the mess.
See other uses for Dawn here.
Way 4: Spray Away the Stench
So for those of you who absolutely love the smell of Tide, you’ll love this product for all fabrics.
Tide Antibacterial Fabric Spray is fabulous. It smells great and it kills bacteria, so it actually eliminates the cause of the stench.
Go ahead and spray away. It is perfect for your couch and your throw pillows too!
Under the Couch
So I realize that this isn’t your actual couch, but this area is just as essential as the cushions and the covers.
If the underneath area of your couch is clean, then the insides of your couch are cleaner and less likely to collect dust and grime.
Way 5: A Simple Swipe of the Swiffer Dry
The Swiffer Dry, that oh-so essential cleaning item, allows you to easily get under your couch so that these particles don’t end up in and on your couch.
I love the go-to Swiffer Sweeper Dry + Wet All Purpose Floor Mopping and Cleaning Starter Kit. It is so easy to use and it saves you from having to move furniture around, which is always a plus.
Couch Accessories
Again, I get it – this is not your couch, but please give me a moment to explain.
Your remotes and your tray or basket that is near by or always hanging out on the couch are all filled with germs and yucky particles that get onto your couch.
Okay, one more moment.
A quick visual.
Someone, we all know that one person, who sits down at your couch. Puts his/her tissue onto the tray, then sticks their paws onto the remote, then dips their chips into the ranch dip that is now smeared all over the cushions.
So the breakdown from this couch chaos. There is a cycle of yuck going on here.
The tissue in and of itself, the tray is then infected, the remote is now taken down, and then the dip has now been embedded into the fabric.
The couch that you want to lay on and relax.
Way 6. An Easy Wipe Down
So yes, just get that wipe out and clean the accessories. It will give you peace of mind.
It will give me peace of mind, and it will give your accessories the love they deserve.
For the Finale
Your couch is restored!
Whether you use these hacks throughout the week or all at the same time for a couch cleaning cycle, your couch will continue to look great and be the perfect spot for that moment of relaxation.
