Way 1: Select Your Oasis
Select a nightstand that is going to work for you. I realize that this may seem like an insignificant piece of furniture to worry about in your home.
However, it really is something that you have to see and use every day. So let this bedside table be something that you actually like.
Recently, I decided to redo my nightstand. I decided I wanted a blue oasis. Something that reminded me of water or the beach or a gorgeous lake.
So when in need of a quick change, I went to my go-to house project purchase – SPRAY PAINT.
My old Ikea end table, which became my old Ikea nightstand was transformed into a magical escape with a few quick coats of spray paint.
To transform the stand, I used Rust-Oleum 12oz 2X Painter’s Touch Ultra Cover Matte Evening Spray Paint Dark Blue. I sprayed two coats of this, and then I always use Rust-Oleum 12oz 2X Painter’s Touch Ultra Cover Matte Clear Spray Paint to cover all of my spray paint projects.
The blue turned out so well and I now love cozying up to this little blue oasis!
Way 2: Unwind and Start Relaxing
Upon your arrival to your little vacation, bring a cup of hot tea or cider to bed. It is just so comforting to have a warm drink at night.
I love this tea, and I have it most nights. I am definitely a believer in the scent of lavender to relax.
So since I did work so hard spraying my nightstand down, I like to ensure that it stays that way for as long as possible.
So to try to preserve it, I use a spillproof mug and a coaster for my nighttime tea.
Way 3: Mini Spa Treatments Each Night
Make your nightstand an outlet for your spa experience. Purchase a few creams that are scented for relaxation.
Select a night cream that you like. Personally, I am on a Neutrogena kick and I am a huge fan of this triple age repair formula.
Make this the time you give your hands and feet a little tender loving care with hand and foot creams for comfort.
Include a night sleep mask to ensure a restful sleep that is uninterrupted by any light.
You may not be able to fit in an all-day spa treatment or even an hour pedicure once a month, but with these items close by each night, you will not be able to avoid this moment for YOU!
Way 4: Reflect on Your Day’s Success
Even though you may not feel like it at times, take a moment once a week to jot down your successes of that day or that week or even that month. End your day on a positive note.
Of course, you can write lists and other items down in this little notebook.
To be honest, it has saved me from staying up thinking about what I need to do. I just get up if I can’t sleep, and I write down my lists and to-dos.
Anywho, this little notebook can serve you as you need it. Just stick it in your drawer and use it when you like.
Way 5: See Clearly and Stay Charged
So in today’s world, it is very hard to escape to an oasis without some form of electronics. So if you have to have them, then you might as well include these picks.
To ensure that you are not ruining your eyes by staring at your phone in those wee hours, use these blue light blocking glasses. They are rather stylish and budget-friendly. I love mine!
Also, pick an alarm clock that also charges your phone. Somehow, I am always trying to locate the little square power adapter, and this way that worry is eliminated. This clock just needs the USB cord to get you to 100%.
For a side story here, I never ever had an alarm clock until six years ago. I didn’t even believe it was necessary because I always set my alarm on my phone for work. Well low and behold, I normally wake up around 5 am and one morning six years ago I woke up to the sound of birds and sunlight…I WAS LATE FOR WORK!
I panicked, called my boss, and hustled on my way to roll in during second period. Nonetheless, my alarm clock is always set and ready for the next morning. Well, my alarm clock and the ten different alarms that I preset on my phone too.
So while you are enjoying this evening oasis, set the tone with the right light bulbs. Try these in warm white light so that you have a calming atmosphere for your much deserved YOU moments.
