Toss these five items out and feel like you have emptied out your home in a flash!
Of course, these items are selected as items that you will not regret tossing out. You will have no guilt in throwing these items to the curb. They probably should have been there months ago.
Above all, you will feel better and your home will look and be decluttered.
In all honesty, there is research that shows that throwing items out does have mental health benefits. According to Psychology Today, “decluttering creates a sense of confidence and self-efficacy.”

2 Items from The Kitchen
The kitchen is a place that is high in traffic and with that comes a quick place to dump random items.
When you normally go to clean the kitchen, you cleanse the surfaces, you wipe down the appliances, and organize the everyday dishes and cookware.
There really isn’t a lot of time to get down and go through your cupboards and cabinets each day, and that is just not what you want to do when you get some spare time.
I totally get that – so what I do to still tackle these tasks is that I just do quick decluttering sessions like this one.
1. TOSS – Burned, chipped, barely hanging on dishes, drinkware, and cookware
Yes, you need to let these items go. They are not going to improve. Furthermore, you are not going to repair them.
If they were gifts or sentimental items, think of them and be one with the souls of these pieces, and yes, toss them out! (not yelling here, just encouraging)
2. TOSS – Expired ingredients and food from your pantry
By removing these expired items, you will be able to see and use what is just about to expire as well.
During the cleanse, toss these cans, boxes, and spices out in a flash and move the items that are nearing the end to the front of your shelves.
Then, find recipes online or maybe use them in your go-to favorite dishes so that these foods are eaten and not thrown out either. I absolutely hate wasting food.
Through this process, you will essentially be shopping your closet during the pantry declutter!
The Bathroom
Another high trafficked area of the home. A place where we store all of our splurge purchases at Sephora and Ulta. Not to mention, our favorite subscriptions like IPSY that are stuffed into drawers and cupboards.
3. TOSS – Old Makeup and Beauty Products
All of these products that have been sitting in your cabinets, drawers, and closets need to go. For this reason, they should scream yuck! They define why they created the Mr. Yuck stickers.
These products should never touch your skin! Additionally, they are old and contaminated with germs and bacteria. Dermatologists would completely disapprove of using these items.
According to Health.com, mascaras should be tossed between 4-6 months, eyeliners, foundations, and concealers after one year, blush and eye shadows between one and two years, and lipsticks have about eight months.
Nonetheless, removing these items will not only declutter your space, but your skin will thank you too.
The Living Room
The living room typically stays fairly decluttered, but there are those magazine piles that start and continue to build and build and build.
4. TOSS – Old Magazines
I would say that magazines from over a year ago should really go. Of course, make sure to recycle these and do not just toss them into the regular garbage.
With that, do not regret this toss. Do not think of these as reference materials. In reality, if you want to know something or look something up from an old magazine, you will always have Google.
The process of removing these piles of paper will declutter your living room and allow you to truly enjoy your moments on the couch. You will no longer be stressing over the mounting magazines in the corner or under your coffee table.
The Clothes Closet
Lastly, your clothes closet is the final place to find a few items and toss them out. You deserve this moment of tossing and instant stress relief.
5. TOSS – Holey Clothes
This all came to mind when my husband questioned why I threw out his workout shorts with holes in them the other day during a cleanse.
Why would anyone want to workout in holey clothes? Let’s face it, you want to feel good when you workout. You want to feel confident. Holes just don’t scream, “I’ve got this!”
So yes, toss out all of your clothes with holes. You deserve to have clothes that are in good shape. After all, they don’t have to be perfect, but you don’t need to keep holey clothing.
Cleansed Home & Mind
You have finished this quick declutter. Yes, you did it! Now, you can rest assured that your home is clean and your mind is clear of clutter.
Overall, be confident during the process and enjoy your organized home!
